Number porting transfer hours and timeframes

Transferring your number to or from ALDI Mobile is straightforward, but it helps to know what to expect. This guide explains when transfers happen, how long they take, and what you need to do during the process.

When can my number be transferred?

Number transfers happen Monday to Friday 8am to 8pm and Saturday 10am to 6pm (AEST/AEDT). Transfers don't typically happen on Sundays or public holidays.

The porting desk acts as an interface between different carriers and operates during these hours. This is an industry-wide system that all mobile providers use.

How long will my transfer take?

Number ports can take up to 2 business days to commence, although most transfers take only a few minutes and are completed on the same day.

You can keep using your current SIM until the transfer begins. During the switch, you may be without service for a short time, sometimes up to 2 hours - this is normal.

What happens when my transfer completes?

Once your service is active, we'll confirm by email and SMS.

If you have a physical SIM, insert it into your phone and restart your device to connect. If you ordered an eSIM, we'll also send you an email with your QR code so you can download and install the eSIM profile associated with your ported number.

What if I request a transfer outside these hours?

If you submit a transfer request outside these hours, we'll process it during the next available transfer window. Only submit your transfer request when you're ready for your service to move, as we are unable to specify a time in advance that the port will commence or complete.

Industry regulations

All mobile providers follow the same transfer rules. These rules require providers to complete 90% of transfers within 3 hours of operation and 99% within 2 business days.
