Most people protect their home with a lock on the door. But your mobile number? That's a key too – and scammers know it. Your number receives security codes for your bank, email and other important accounts. If a scammer takes control of it, they may be able to pass security checks without you knowing, move money from your accounts, access personal information or commit identity theft. The good news? There are simple steps you can take to make it much harder for them. And ALDI Mobile has extra protections in place too. Your mobile number is a key to your most important accounts When you log into your bank or reset a password, there's a good chance a verification code gets sent to your phone. That one-time code is what stands between a scammer and your account. If scammers can get hold of your number – through a SIM swap, a port, or by accessing your device – they can receive those codes instead of you. That's why we treat certain changes to your ALDI Mobile account as high-risk, including SIM swaps, password changes and porting requests. For these, we verify your identity with extra checks including multi-factor authentication (MFA) before we do anything. Find out how ALDI Mobile protects your service Three simple things you can do right now You don't need to be a tech expert to protect yourself. These steps make a real difference: Use strong, unique passwords Use a different password for your ALDI Mobile account, email and bank. Never reuse passwords or use obvious choices like birthdays or "password123". A password manager can help. Keep your phone and SIM locked Set a PIN, fingerprint or face unlock on your device and turn on auto-lock. If someone can access your phone, they can receive your security codes. Turn on MFA wherever you can Multi-factor authentication adds an extra layer of security to your accounts. Turn it on for your email and banking accounts especially – it's one of the most effective things you can do. Check – contact the organisation using a number from their official website or app. Protect – never share codes, passwords or access with anyone. What to do if you think something's wrong Act quickly. The faster you move, the better your chances of reducing any harm. Signs your number or accounts may be at risk: Your phone shows 'SOS only' and it's not a known network issue You receive unexpected messages about ALDI Mobile account changes or porting Your bank flags unusual logins or transactions you don't recognise You receive login alerts or password reset emails you didn't request If any of these apply, call your bank straight away and contact ALDI Mobile so we can check your service and help secure your account.
