Why 5G?

5G on Mobile is growing and expanding, covering more Australians than any other 5G network. With 5G you will benefit from:

5g phone game

Speed: Life in the Fast Lane

Experience the next level of connectivity with 5G, designed for enhanced speed and performance.

Embrace the potential for quicker downloads, smoother streaming, and more responsive gaming.

5G Drone

Responsiveness: What Lag?

Low latency is a game-changer. 5G can dramatically reduce the time it takes for devices to talk to each other.

That means gaming becomes more responsive, video calls are clearer, and the online experience becomes that much better.

5G capacity

Capacity: Less Jams

Data demand is soaring. But think of 5G as adding extra lanes to the digital highway. More capacity means less network congestion.

Whether at a concert, crowded sports event or in a bustling shopping centre, you're more likely to enjoy seamless connectivity and higher data speeds.

5G FAQs

Answers to common questions relating to 5G can be found below;

What is 5G?

5G is the latest generation of mobile technology. 5G is the next evolution of the mobile network following 3G and 4G.

How does 5G compare to 4G?

4G made it possible for us to stream and download on the go. 5G builds on this capability and takes it further with even higher download speeds, combined with lower latency, making for faster response times.

What is the max speed I can get on 5G?

5G speed is capped at 150Mbps or 250Mbps, depending upon the plan. This speed cap on a 5G plan applies whether you are connected to 5G or 4G.

This is the maximum potential download speed. Typical speeds will often be slower and will vary due to factors such as location, device capabilities, distance from the base station, local conditions, concurrent users, hardware and software configuration and download/upload destination.

Beyond the maximum potential speed for your selected plan, a speed cap does not indicate any relative performance difference compared to another plan with a different speed cap.

Where can I see a map of 5G coverage?

Our coverage map has been updated to include 5G. For more details head to aldimobile.com.au/coverage.

What happens when I am outside of 5G coverage?

Outside of 5G coverage, 5G devices will continue to use 4G, or 3G where 4G is unavailable.

How will I know if I am connected to 5G?

The 5G symbol appearing on the device represents that 5G is available on the network in the vicinity of the device.

Speed, performance, and whether a 5G device uses the available 5G network depends on prevailing radio conditions at your location and whether the device is actively downloading or uploading data.

Outside of 5G coverage, 5G devices will continue to use our 4G, or 3G where 4G is unavailable.
