Why did 3G shut down?

The Telstra Wholesale Mobile Network, utilised by ALDI Mobile, phased out its 3G services from 28 October 2024.

This step was taken to reallocate resources to the more advanced 4G and 5G networks, which provide faster and more efficient services. The shutdown of 3G is part of an industry-wide transition by all network providers across Australia and globally towards newer, more efficient technologies.
