From 30th September we are making changes to our Family Plans, see changes here.

What is a Family Plan?

It’s a Shared data plan for households that use more than one service.

  • Put 2, 4 or 6 services on one prepaid Family Plan under a single account.
  • Share one pool of data across those services instead of separate data allowances.
  • Recharge every 30 days and roll over unused data on eligible Family Plan recharges.
  • Check usage and set data limits in one place, via the Family Plan dashboard.

How do Family Plans work?

One owner, up to 6 services

  • Choose one owner service to set up and manage the Family Plan.
  • Add up to 5 more services, for a total of 2, 4 or 6 services depending on your Family Plan tier.
  • Each service keeps its own mobile number and gets unlimited standard calls and SMS to Australian numbers.

Shared data, all in one place

  • Shared data that all services use until it’s gone, so heavier users can dip in while lighter users don’t waste data.
  • The owner can set data limits and check usage in the Family Plan dashboard.
  • It’s simpler than juggling separate plans and recharges for every service

30 day plans with rollover

  • All Family Plans run on a 30‑day expiry, so you recharge less often and get more value from every recharge.
  • Unused data rolls over when you recharge with the same eligible Family Plan within 24 hours of expiry.
  • 5G‑enabled plans where coverage and your device support it, speed caps apply.

Who are Family Plans for?

Families with kids and teens

  • Keep everyone connected with one shared data pool and one simple recharge.
  • It’s easier to manage usage, easier to manage costs and avoid juggling separate plans for every phone.

Couples and housemates

  • Share one Family Plan instead of running separate mobile plans.
  • It’s a straightforward way to pool data and keep mobile costs under control.

Multi-device households

  • Great for homes with extra phones, tablets or spare SIMs that all need data.
  • Put the services together and use the data where it’s needed most.

Supporting family members

  • Ideal if you help manage a parent’s or relative’s mobile service.
  • One account, one plan and less to keep track of.

How to get started with a Family Plan?

Choose the path that suits you. Whether you're new to ALDI Mobile or already with us, it's easy to get your Family Plan up and running.

New to ALDI Mobile

  • Buy a Family Plan Starter Pack online.
  • Choose an eSIM for instant activation or a physical SIM by post.
  • Once your services are activated, choose your owner service and build your Family Plan from there.

Already with ALDI Mobile

  • If your services are already on the same account, recharge the service you want as the owner with a Family Plan.
  • Use the Family Plan dashboard to move your other services into it.
  • If those services already have a plan, it’s best to wait until they expire before moving them across.

Adding new ALDI Mobile services

  • Buy a SIM or eSIM for each new service.
  • Activate the new services.
  • Recharge the chosen owner service with a Family Plan, then move the new services into it.

Bringing services from another provider

  • If the services are already in your name, activate each one with ALDI Mobile and choose “transfer my number”.
  • Once they’re active, add them to your Family Plan.
  • If a service is in someone else’s name, they’ll need to transfer it to ALDI Mobile first, then you can invite them to join your Family Plan.

Family Plan FAQs

Answers to popular Family Plan questions

What is a Family Plan and how is it different from a regular ALDI Mobile plan?

A Family Plan is one prepaid plan with shared data for multiple services on the same account, instead of each service having its own separate data allowance.

You still pay upfront for 30 days, but the data, inclusions and controls sit under one Family Plan owner service rather than being spread across individual plans.

How does shared data work on a Family Plan?

Each Family Plan has a single pool of data that all services on the plan use until it is exhausted.

The Family Plan owner can set individual data limits for each user service in the Family Plan dashboard so you can decide how much of the shared data each person can use.

How many services can I have on one Family Plan?

You can have up to 6 services in total on one Family Plan, including your own service as the Family Plan owner. For example, that could be your service plus up to 5 additional services, depending on which Family Plan tier you choose.

Lower tier Family Plans support fewer services, while the top tier lets you connect all 6 services to the same shared data pool.

Can I control or monitor how much data each person uses?

Yes. The owner can set and change data limits for each user service in 0.5GB increments in the Family Plan dashboard.

You can also see how much data the Family Plan has used overall and how each user’s usage is tracking, so it is easier to keep an eye on heavy users.

What happens if we use all the shared data?

Once the shared data pool is used up, you can add more data at any time with a Data Top Up - 3GB for $15, up to a maximum of 40GB above your included data allowance at any one time. Any unused Data Top Up data will expire at the same time as your Family Plan, but may be eligible for rollover.

Can I add or remove services later?

Yes. You can add or remove services at any time through the Family Plan dashboard in your online My ALDI Mobile account.

Adding a service usually means activating a new SIM or moving an existing ALDI Mobile service into the plan, and removing a service simply takes it out of the Family Plan so it can use its own plan instead.

Can I bring my existing ALDI Mobile service into a Family Plan?

Yes. If you already have ALDI Mobile services on your account, you can:

  • Recharge your chosen owner service with a Family Plan, then

  • Use the Family Plan dashboard to move your other ALDI Mobile services into the Family Plan.

Any existing plan on those services will be cancelled when they move into the Family Plan, so it is best to wait until their current plans are close to expiry.

Can I bring a number from another provider into a Family Plan, and are there name or ownership rules?

Yes.

First, the service needs to be ported to ALDI Mobile in the current owner’s name.
To add it to your Family Plan, the number must then be in the same name as the Family Plan owner, in line with ACMA rules. If it is in someone else’s name, they will need to complete a change of ownership or transfer first before you can invite that service into your Family Plan.

Does unused data roll over on a Family Plan?

Yes. Family Plans come with unlimited data rollover as long as you recharge with the same Family Plan within 24 hours of the previous plan expiring.

If you switch to a different Family Plan, or to a different type of plan, any unused rollover data is forfeited and will not carry across to the new plan.

Important information

Family Plan can be added to a Pay As You Go Plan. If you have an existing Plan on your service and select another Plan before expiry, you will forfeit any remaining credits and/or data on the previous Plan and they will not be refunded. Excludes all overseas use. Please allow 10-12 business days for delivery for a starter pack if purchased online.

To access the 5G network on those Plans, you need to be within the 5G network coverage area and use a 5G device. Medion Australia Pty Ltd ACN 106 611 330, under the brand name ALDI Mobile, uses the Telstra Wholesale Mobile network. Learn more at http://www.aldimobile.com.au/coverage . Speeds vary due to various factors like your location, device and network congestion. You should refer to our Critical Information Summaries to determine which Plan is right for you and see more details
about speed caps.

Auto Recharge can take up to 6 hours from the time your plan expires at midnight (AET). If you need to use your service during this time either recharge manually or top-up your PAYG credit.

Price per service is based on family plan having the maximum number of services connected to it, number of services per Plan includes owner service and additional user services up to the Plan maximum.
